📸 Does everything in a PYP classroom need to be “linked to the unit”?
🐾 This week we created a small mural in our classroom where students brought and posted photos of their pets.
❓ Does it connect directly to our current unit?
Not really.
🎯 Is it explicitly tied to a specific learning objective?
No.
💛 Did we still decide to do it?
Yes. Because we wanted to.
🗣️ It gave us a chance to:
share a bit of who we are outside of school
listen to each other’s stories
make our classroom feel a little more like a community and a little less like just a room where we “do work”
🌱 Sometimes belonging, joy and connection are enough of a reason. Not everything needs to be assessed to be valuable.
